However, it needs to be reminded that in most scenarios changes are geared towards improvements. It’s time that teachers and tutors become better and better each day. We want them to be the best they can possibly be so that they can play an important role in the improvement of student performance and achievement. If your school lacks a mission statement, create one. If you think that your school’s mission statement needs to be reviewed, do it. Build upon your school’s mission statement. It is imperative that the school’s mission statement describes the importance of achieving the mission statement whilst looking to the future. The mission statement should be shared by all concerned and should depict what will be achieved if the school successfully attains its goals.
2. You’re School Should Be an Agent of Change
People who want change are passionate. They’re driven about their vision. They aren’t afraid of making tough decisions when it comes to deciding what’s best for the students. If they see resistance and complaints about change and improvements, they will remain steadfast on their leadership and adamant with their decisions. So, if you want to improve student learning and achievement, your school has to be a change agent, even if it upsets the teachers and parents.
3. Analyze Data
Data analysis is crucial if you want to see significant improvements in student learning and achievement. Everyone from the administration to the teachers must be involved in data analysis. They should be doing something impactful with the data. Most schools analyze the data and do nothing pragmatic with it. Schools should celebrate your strengths, work on strategies to ameliorate their weaknesses, focus on improvements, and implement it.

For students to be successful learners, they should be taught what to learn. Teachers should help them to find how to learn and they can develop an appetite for learning. 5. Teachers should asses themselves
Teachers should not only focus on teaching students, but they should also invest in themselves. Teachers and educators should never stop pursuing knowledge. Good teachers actively seek and learn new things and keep on knowing more. They don’t rely completely on the school’s designated professional training and development schemes as their main source of learning the latest concepts and developments in education. One good way to do this is by reading various professional development books, articles, or blogs online. Another powerful approach to continue growing as an educator is to join personal learning networks.

Incorporating research-based teaching and learning methods are one of the effective ways of improving student achievement and student learning.

Teachers and tutors alike should exert more effort to teach students to understand the differences between application, recall, and strategic reasoning. If students can be taught the differences between how much thinking is needed to find the solution of questions at every level, it will not only help them to answer questions but also enhance their learning process at the same time. If this strategy is paired with assignments and following of rigorous instruction the outcome will be highly productive. Furthermore, with increasing rigor, the expectations of the students will also rise. However, teachers should make sure the expectations are realistic and aren’t set too low at the same time.
